Overview

Uri: The Surgical Strike is an upcoming 2019 Indian action film which is based on true story. Screenplay was written and directed by Aditya Dhar and the film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala under the banner RSVP Movies. Star cast of the film include Vicky KaushalParesh RawalMohit Raina and Yami Gautam in the lead roles, this film will be based on the 2016’s Indian Army’s surgical strikes on Pakistan which was named as the Uri attack. It is scheduled for its theatrical release on 11th January, 2019.

Film (Uri) was announced by its producer Ronnie Screwvala after one year of the surgical strike take place in September, 2017. This film was directed by debutante director Aditya Dhar. He said that the film will be revolve around what was happened in those eleven days of surgical strike. Its principal photography was begun in June, 2018 and was finished by September, 2018. Vicky Kaushal went through the extensive military training for five months and put on some weight. He trained for five hours a day which includes three to four hours of military training to enhance his stamina. He also received gun training at the naval base in Cuffe Parade in Mumbai. He called it physically the most challenging film for me as he injured his arm while filming an action sequence in it.\



Vicky Kaushal and the supporting casts were trained at Mumbai’s Navy Nagar with Captains and Majors who are teaching them slithering, using arms and ammunitions and other drills used by the armed forces. Most of the filming of Uri was done in Serbia and was wrapped up in Mumbai. The Indo-Pak border, the LOC and other areas resembling military posts and terrorist camps were recreated in Serbia. Yami Gautam was trained mixed martial arts for this movie. She called the process of shooting was “exhausting yet enjoyable.” The film also stars Kirti KulhariParesh Rawal and Mohit Raina. The Producer said that the film has elements of war, action, and strategy based on a true story that the Indian audience is yet to watch such experience in cinema.

Marketing and Release

A teaser of the film was launched one day before the 2nd anniversary of the strike on 27th September, 2018.
